Selection Criteria Projectors

Topten.eu – Best Products of Europe – presents projectors with the label "TCO-certified Projectors" (Versions 8.0 and 9.0).

Technical Criteria

In order to be displayed on topten.eu, projectors must meet the following criteria:

  • TCO-certified Projectors 8.0 or 9.0
  • Lightsource: no UHP-Lamps

Order of presentation

Products are ranked according to their nominal power. The order of presentation can be changed under "sort".

Brand / Model

Brand and model name of the base model.

Variants

Model name von variants of the base model.

Place of installation (intended use)

  • Office / Meeting rooms: usually feature higher brightness, as meeting rooms are not shaded or dimmed.
  • Professional: schools, auditoriums, etc. Models suitable for projecting over large distances. Tend to be bigger.
  • Short-distance: suitable for short distances, where wall or screen is very close. Can be relevant for home-use, but also for small meeting rooms.
  • Gaming: is characterized by quick reaction times
  • Home-Cinema: good resolution. No need for highest levels of brightness (as rooms are mostly darkened and/or people watch in the evening).
  • Portable: generally very small and light-weight.

Resolution

The designations stand for the resolution of the respective screen in pixels.

  • XGA: resolution min. 1024x768 pixels (horizontal x vertical).
  • WXGA: resolution min. 1280x800 pixels (horizontal x vertical).
  • HD Ready: resolution min.1366x768 pixels (horizontal x vertical).
  • Full HD (True HD und Full HD 1080p): resolution min.1920x1080 pixels (horizontal x vertical).
  • Ultra HD (4K): resolution min. 3840x2160 pixels (horizontal x vertical).

Minimum total hours of the lamp

Power

Measured nominal power of the projector in Watt (W).

Light source

Type of lightsource: LED = Light emitting Diode or Laser: Laser diodes

Image brightness

Brighness in Lumen (lm). Depending on the possibility to darken the room, a higher brightness is necessary.

Contrast

Indicates the contrast ratio. Projectors which work in daylight with a very high brightness also need a high contrast in order to display the image well.

TCO-certified

Indicates the current tco-certified certificate. The highest certificate at the moment is version 9.0, though projectors with a previous certificate are still available to buy.

Lenght / Height / Width / Weight

Dimensions in cm, resp. kg

Noise level

indicates the noise of the projector in decibel.
