Methodology
Topten.eu – Best products of Europe – presents the most energy efficient dishwashers of Europe. Topten presents two categories of dishwashers:
- Freestanding dishwashers
- Built-in dishwashers
Technical criteria
In order to qualify for topten.eu, dishwashers must meet the following criteria:
- Energy efficiency:
- energy class A and B according to the EU energy label
Relevant values have to be provided by the producers. Suppliers who are not able to provide these values cannot claim to have their appliances presented on topten.eu
Data sources
- Suppliers’ declarations
- National Topten-sites
- Encodex data base
Order of presentation
The products are ordered according to their Energy Efficiency Index (EEI). The order can be changed individually
Glossary
Brand, Model and similar models
Brand and model names. Products of similar construction and identical technical values are displayed only once, the similar models’ names are listed below. A click on the column of a product shows the detailed view.
Electricity and water costs
Assumptions:
- Costs for electricity and water (in €) during 15 years (product life) for 280 standard cycles. Calculated according to the energy and water consumption as declared on the EU energy label for 100 cycles.
- Tariff of electricity: 0.30 € /kWh
- Tariff of water: 4 €/m3
Place settings
Capacity in number of standard place settings according to EN 50242.
Height / Width / Depth
Dimensions of the model in cm. Built-in models: max. dimensions of the niche. Freestanding models: external dimensions.
Water consumption
Water consumption per cycle in litres according to the declaration on the EU energy label.
Hot water supply
A direct connection to hot water is possible, usually for water of max. 60°C. Dishwashers have one water pipe, and most models can be connected either to cold or warm water. When connected to the hot water, the dishwasher does not need to heat up the water electrically. A direct supply of hot water saves energy if the water is heated with renewable energies, a heat pump or by community heating. Even if the water is heated with domestic fuel oil or gas a direct hot water supply can be considered.
Noise emissions
Noise in decibel (db(A)) during cleaning according to the declaration on the EU energy label (measured according to IEC 60704-2-3).
Efficiency class
According to the Energy Labelling regulation No 2019/2017. The classification on the Energy Label is based on the energy efficiency index (EEI).

The energy efficiency class according to the EU energy label. The classes range from A (most efficient) to G (least efficient).
Energy consumption
Energy consumption in kWh for 100 cycles, according to the declaration on the EU energy label.
Energy Efficiency Index
Energy Efficiency Index (EEI) according to the Energy Labelling regulation No 2019/2017. The EEI is the ratio of a model's annual energy consumption and the energy consumption of a standard model with the same number of place settings. The lower the EEI, the more energy efficient a dishwasher.
