Topten presents comfort fans with data declared according to Regulation (EU) No. 206/2012 implementing Directive 2009/125/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council with regard to Ecodesign requirements for indoor air conditioning units and comfort fans. The values shall be declared according to IEC 60879.
All comfort fans on Topten meet the following criteria:
1. Efficiency Index (corresponding to Service Value (m3/min)/W):
Tower fan
|
min. 0.45
|
Table fan
|
min. 0.80
|
Floor fan
|
min. 0.80
|
Standing fan
|
min. 1.00
|
Ceiling fan
|
min. 2.75
|
(The higher the index, the more efficient the appliances.)
2. Not included are comfort fans with a heating function.
Order of presentation
The products are ranked according to their electricity costs over 15 years.
Glossary
Brand and Model
Name of the manufacturing company and the specific model.
Electricity costs in 15 years
Assumptions:
- Costs for electricity during 15 years (product's life time)
- Tariff of electricity: 0.30 €/kWh (there can be large differences depending on country or electrical utility)
- 320 hours on-mode and 1120 hours in standby mode (for fixed ceiling fans the standby mode is 8440 hours). The number of hours is based on the assumption of the preparatory study on air conditioners and comfort fans (EC, 2009).
Efficiency Index
The efficiency index or Service Value is measured in (m3/min)/W and means the ratio of the maximum fan flow rate [m3 /min] to the fan power input [W]. The higher the index, the more efficient the comfort fan.
Maximum fan flow rate (m3/min)
The flow rate in m3 per minute or hour shows how much air the appliance can move maximally.
Power (W)
The power of the fan or fan power input means the electric power input of a comfort fan in Watt operating at the declared maximum fan flow rate, measured with the oscillating mechanism active (if/when applicable).
Type
The list can be filtered according to 5 different types of comfort fans.
Topten lists table, floor, standing, tower and ceiling fans.
Weight
Weight of the model in kg.
Levels
Number of different settings available.
Noise (dB(A))
A-weighted sound power level of the comfort fan while providing the maximum fan flow rate, measured at the outlet side.
