ProCold Procurement Guidelines

ProCold offers procurement guidelines to help public authorities, professionals and buyers of professional refrigerators find the most energy efficient products in Europe. Buyers that place emphasis on energy efficient refrigerated cabinets meet environmental targets, save on electric costs and act in an exemplary way.

The criteria detailed and summarized in the procurement guidelines can be inserted directly into tendering documents and are available in 5 languages. The national ProCold teams are available for further assistance and additional information (find the contacts on www.topten.eu/pro-cold).

Which criteria are included?

EU regulations determine the energy labels and limit the usage of certain refrigerants. Topten takes into account all current regulation as well as future developments such as the upcoming stages of the f-gas regulation (517/2014). Products are selected regarding their energy saving potential for specific categories, their type of refrigerant and technical aspects.

The procurement guidelines also include background facts and upcoming developments with regards to the respective regulations. Notes on implementation support the tendering process.

Where to find the best products

Topten maintains a web-based database with products that fulfil the selection criteria. Procurers can therefore use the website to check the availability and assortment of products currently on the market, which meet the Topten/ ProCold selection criteria. All products can be found on www.topten.eu/pro-cold and under the menu heading 'Professional Refrigerators'.

The products are selected and updated continuously, according to their high energy and environmentalperformances, independently from the manufacturers.
