Winners of the Euro-Topten Product competition

On February 28, 2014 the Austrian Energy agency, together with, announced the winners of the Euro-Topten Product Competition at the international trade fair “expoEnergy Wels 2014” in Austria. The manufacturers and their winning products were awarded by Vincent Berrutto (Head of Unit Energy efficiency in buildings, industry, equipment and transport) a representative of the European Commission. Thérèse Kreitz, responsible for household appliances at ADEME and Euro-Topten project coordinator since the beginning in 2006, presented and the product competition during the event.

Tumble Driers

Adora TSL WP


The most efficient tumble drier was produced by the manufacturer V-Zug with the model Adora TSL WP. The heat pump tumble drier with the energy efficiency class A+++ has an energy consumption of only 152 kWh per year. For the TV category, Panasonic was able to come out on top with the model TX L39BLW6 that has already achieved the energy efficiency class A++ thanks to optimized LED backlight. The winning LED lamp is the model GloboLux 60 R 927 and was developed from the manufacturer Onlux. This LED lamp with a luminous flux of 820 lumens and exceptional colour rendering quality (index Ra = 90) is a very good equivalent to 60W incandescent lamps and achieved energy efficiency class A++ as one of the first products on the market.

The announcement of the Euro-Topten Product Competition guidelines was kicked off in March of 2013. The categories that were eligible for entry into the competition were tumble driers, TVs and LED lamps. The competition gave manufacturers the opportunity to present themselves at the European level and to showcase their innovative and highly energy efficiency products.

The manufacturer's information for each winning product of the competition was verified by VDE (Association for Electrical, Electronic & Information Technologies), an independent and accredited testing laboratory. The verification of data for all three products were positive as expected. The “Topten Energy Award Logo” was uniquely designed and provided to the winners so they can market their products as the best products of their category in Europe.
