Selection criteria dishwashers

Methodology

 Topten.eu presents the most energy efficient dishwasher models with the best drying efficiency and lowest water consumption of Europe.

Technical criteria

In order to be presented on topten.eu, dishwasher models must be declared according to the new energy label regulation No 1059/2010 and comply with the following criteria:
  • energy efficiency:
  • class A++ or better for freestanding dishwashers
  • class A+++ for built-in dishwashers
  • drying performance: class A
  • maximum water consumption per cleaning cycle: 10 liters
  • hot water supply is possible
  • water/flood protection

Relevant values have to be provided by the producers. Producers who are not able to provide these values cannot claim to have their appliances displayed on topten.eu.

Glossary

Brand, Model and similar models

Brand and model names. Products of similar construction and identical technical values are displayed only once, the similar models’ names are listed below.

Electricity and water costs (EUR in 15 yrs)

Calculated based on the following assumptions:
  • dishwashers’ lifetime: 15 years
  • electricity and water consumption according to Commission regulation 1059/2010 of 28. September 2010
  • 280 cleaning cycles per year
  • electricity tariff: 0.15 € /kWh
  • water tariff: 0.26 € /10 liters (Source: EuP-study lot 25, Task 2)

As declared by the manufacturer, measured according to IEC 60704-2-3, in decibel (dB(A))

Energy efficiency class according to the new energy label regulation No 1059/2010 of 28. September 2010

Since 1. December 2011 dishwashers of class B and less efficient are banned – except for small dishwashers (10 place settings, width  ≤ 45cm) class B is still permitted till Dec. 2013.
